Applied Scholastics Online Academy

High School Graduates

Applied Scholastics Online High School
A unique program: high school students and adults can earn a prestigious private school diploma.

Weekly Distance Learning

This service is set-up to assist students who wish to work with an experienced educator on a weekly basis.
When you sign up with APS Online you will receive a verification form and your child will receive a student ID card.  You will be asked to fill out a parent questionnaire to familiarize the educator with your child’s earlier schooling, areas of weakness and strength and what you would like to see your child accomplish on our program.
Your student will be assigned to an educator who will work with your child on a direct email basis.  The educator will e-mail your child weekly assignments, targets and materials.  Student turns assignments in, and the educator grades the work and helps student bring all work to 100%.  The Online educator maintains attendance records and program progress.

Daily Distance Learning

For students who need assistance daily, to stay motivated and focused, we recommend this service.  The educator works with your child daily on a direct email basis (additional amenities are identical to the weekly service).

Adult Diploma Program

This service is set-up for 12th grade students and adults who have not completed their high school graduation.

How are we different?

We offer an introduction and orientation course that can change anyone’s life for the better.  To succeed in life a student must know the rules of the game.  This includes (1) an understanding of his rights, (2) the knowledge that through responsibility he will lead a happier life, and (3) the ability and confidence to research, study and learn any subject.  Together these are the corner stones to success!

On our orientation course, students learn how to make studying exciting, fun and rewarding.

They learn about their rights. There are 30 rights contained in a document called the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which was created in 1948 by the United Nations.

Trying to survive in a sometimes dishonest and immoral society can be difficult without tools to overcome misconduct.  Students learn how to make right choices and enhance their survival potential using The Way to Happiness.

Students who do the assignments for the course receive high school credit.

Which is better for you: a diploma or GED?

If someone you know is in the job market and never graduated from high school they may find themselves at a disadvantage.  Of course, they can bite the bullet and just finish high school with night classes or online.  But, they may have also considered getting a GED (General Education Development) certificate, which some employers accept in place of a diploma. . . . article continued

Can I study what I want to?

The greatest education in the world is one that allows the individual to make life more worthwhile.  What if education were all about students pursuing what is of most interest to them personally?   About studying and becoming competent in areas they are passionate about?  After all, the world spins on the shoulders of individuals who pursue their heartfelt desires. . . . . article continued

What are the basics required by the Department of Education?

English, math, history, US government, economics, science, physical education and art are typically studied in high school.

How many credits do I need to graduate?

24 two-semester courses
The usual number of credits to graduate high school is 240 where a one-semester course equals 5 credits and a two-semester course equals 10 credits. A full school year is considered two-semesters.  Therefore, students are expected to earn 60 credits in 9th grade, 60 in 10th, 60 in 11th and 60 in 12th.
Special note: some school districts drop the zero and issue one-half of a credit for semester courses and one-credit for two semesters.  Under this system, the student would need a total of 24 credits to graduate, 6 credits for each year of high school.
Naturally, if a student wishes to work at a faster pace on our program, high school can be completed in less than four years.  This puts the student’s education in his or her own hands.

Can I transfer credits from other schools?

Yes.  You may transfer credits from other schools by giving us the name and address of the school(s) and the semesters or years you attended.  We will request official transcripts and use the information to create a cumulative transcript that will include your earlier course study along with your current online study.

Can I improve my GPA?

Yes.  An educational consultant at Applied Scholastics Online Academy will give you a program outlining precisely what you need to do to bring-up a particular grade or grades.

Who can graduate by age 16?

When we hear of someone graduating from high school at fifteen or sixteen we naturally think, “Wow, that must be some whiz kid!”
But how about typical students: can they graduate at age sixteen and still have a quality education?  The answer is, “Yes.”  Read on.. . . . article continued
